WHY WE FIGHT – MESSAGE TO THE FORCE

Why We Fight

13 July 2026

Are Christians naturally gravitated toward war?  Do believers have an ill will toward those who don’t like us?  Do we have a desire for bloodshed?  Obviously not.  I’m talking specifically concerning physical wars.  But although we have no desire to take up arms in the flesh, we are passionate about warfare.

It has been preached and taught to a level of exhaustion that our warfare is not in the flesh.

Our warfare is not physical.  It is totally and completely spiritual in nature.  The Christian who engages in spiritual warfare must do so or eventually die.  When Satan attacks you mentally, emotionally and spiritually, there comes a point where you will have to resist him in some way or else cower down.  But there’s a power working within every believer.  That power has no defeat, no retreat, no tolerance for anything evil to abide its presence.

There is a king living on the inside of every believer.  An entire kingdom lives inside you.

Because Jesus lives inside us, He has His own passions and desires that drives all of His people to action.

Abram’s War:

The first recorded war in scripture describes Abram’s war against the five kings.

When the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell, the remaining kings took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, including Lot, his family, his people and his goods.  This was enough for Abram to wage war. Abram called on three hundred and eighteen of his own trained servants and rescued those he loved.  Abram literally took back EVERYTHING the enemy had taken.  This is how God restores.

When you fight for the right reasons, God not only fights with you, but He rewards your efforts.

Abram’s only war reveals why we fight.  We fight to rescue souls.  We fight to deliver our people who have been afflicted or bound.  As long as the world fights amongst itself, then let them fight, but when Satan starts attacking my people, I will take up arms!

We are not brutal people by nature, but we are forced to enter conflict.  Our motivation for warfare is quite simple; we fight with righteous indignation.  We do not seek to inflict harm on the kingdom of darkness for nought.  We fight from a defensive posture.  We fight because of the harm Satan inflicts on mankind.

It has been said all throughout history.  When nations go to war for the right reasons, then the soldiers will fight nobly to the death.  Not one soldier will give up his life for an unworthy cause.  If the cause is righteous, then the resolve will be unwavering.  There is no greater reason to fight than to lay down his life for his people.

Satan will stand against anything and everything God wants to do in anyone’s life.  Even the promises of God.  Although God had given the Promised Land to Israel, Joshua still had to fight to obtain it.  We fight to obtain our promises.  We fight to receive our inheritance.

What have we learned today from this message?  Everything God has promised you will be resisted by Satan.  If you want your friends and family saved, you’ll have to go to war for them.  If you want to receive the promises God has promised you, you will wrestle principalities in order to obtain them.  Don’t fear!  God will fight with you.  He will not only fight with you, but he will reward you with victory and a portion of the spoils of war.
