MANEUVER WITHOUT SUPPRESSION IS SUICIDE – MESSAGE TO THE FORCE

MANEUVER WITHOUT SUPPRESSION IS SUICIDE

15 July 2026

The cardinal rule of infantry tactics dictates that there can be no movement without supporting fire, and no fire should be wasted without subsequent movement. Exposing troops to enemy fire without suppression allows the enemy to target them freely.

Suppressive fire is defined as fire that temporarily degrades an enemy’s performance below the level needed to accomplish their mission. Marines classify suppression into three main methods of execution: Support by Fire, Fire and Maneuver, and Fire and Movement.

Support by Fire

What: A base of fire element engages the enemy from a stationary, overarching position.

Purpose: To fix the enemy in place and concentrate maximum suppressive fires on specific defenses so that the primary assault element can safely maneuver to an advantageous position. The supporting unit itself does not advance to capture the target.

Ex. Judges chapter 7, shows Gideon and his 300 against the multitudes of the Midianites, of how the Lord fixed them into an advantageous position against their enemy and wrought a great victory.

Fire and Maneuver

What: A technique where one unit (such as a squad or platoon’s support by fire element) uses lethal or non-lethal fires to pin down the enemy. Meanwhile, a separate maneuver element moves to a position of advantage—typically an enemy flank or rear.

Purpose: To force the enemy into a tactical dilemma where they must either expose themselves to friendly fire or get flanked.

Ex. 2 Samuel Chapter 5, David comes into battle with the Philistines, after winning the first engagement, David enquires of the Lord what to do next.  The Lord Commands David to Flank the enemy and wait behind them in the mulberry trees until the Lord gives them the signal for the ambush.

Fire and Movement

What: The lowest level of tactical movement, typically executed by buddy teams or small fireteams. One Marine/fireteam lays down suppressive fire while the other bounds closer to the objective.

Purpose: To allow Marines to physically close the distance with the enemy by alternating bounding movements with continuous, overwhelming suppressive cover.

Ex. Acts Chapter 3, Peter and John go to the temple to pray and meet a man that was lame.  Peter prayed over him and he was healed.

Now what is our types of suppression in the spiritual?

Praise: 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 KJV

Prayer: James 5:16-18 KJV

Fasting: Mark 9:25-29 KJV

Your ammunition for today:

Without God’s direction and hand on our life if we are not careful our spiritual man will become likened unto Judas which after betraying Christ went and hung himself in a field.

Proverbs 24:16 KJV

Let’s let God direct our path, and like the apostle Peter, even after denying Christ 3 times, he went and sought forgiveness. Do not maneuver without spiritual suppression.

Do not maneuver without spiritual suppression.
